Twelve years chasing America's back roads, river bends, and places the highway signs never mention. I built Open Roads because every travel site kept pointing me to the same crowded spots — I wanted to write about the other ones. The gas station outside Moab where they make better breakfast than any resort. The county road in Montana that dead-ends at a lake nobody has named yet. That is what gets written here.
